Schedule of Public Appearances 2006:
Extended Sabbatical: 2006
Last year I took time out from most gigs involving travel, and I'm
going to go on with the time out. Please don't ask me to come give a
speech, unless you are the King of Sweden. I have speeched and
paneled and signed and all that for several decades, and feel that
now it's other people's turn.

- January 15, 2006. 3:00 p.m. Reading and signing for
the Oregon Legacy series of author readings at Lincoln City Library, Lincoln City, Oregon.
- March 8, 2006, 7:00 p.m. Northwest Branch of Multnomah County Library, Portland, OR, I will be in a poetry reading with Molly Gloss and Caroline Le Guin. Note: Sitting room is very limited, and the Library closes at 8 pm sharp. This is not a book-signing opportunity.
- Saturday, March 11, 2006, time TBA I will be reading a few poems, along with Charles Le Guin reading from his novel North Coast, and a number of other Cannon Beach writers, at the Cannon Beach Historical Society.
- March 22, 2006, 7:00 p.m. Lewis and Clark College Aubrey Watzek Library Poetry Series. Templeton Student Center, Council Chamber.
I will be reading with Judith Barrington. I'll read some of my
Mistral translations, with Judith reading the original Spanish, and
from my poetry collection, Incredible Good Fortune, which is to be
released that month.

- Thursday, March 23, 2006 I will do a brief performance at the "Literary Feast" benefit for In Other Words Book Store, Portland, OR; tickets available at the bookstore or through the In Other Words web site. Location: The Governor Hotel (614 SW 11th Ave).
- April 20-23, 2006. Wordstock, the Portland book fair.
I will be reading at noon on Sunday at the Borders Stage, Hall C, Oregon Convention Center. I'll probably read from newly published Incredible Good Fortune, and/or forthcoming Voices,
and signing at 12:30 p.m. at the same place.

- October 18, 2006: Seattle Center for the Book, Washington State Book Awards, honored UKL with Maxine Cushing Gray Fellowship. Seattle Center for the Book, Seattle Central Library
- A poetry reading: Seven poets will be reading
their work. All of us have poems in David Biespiel's new anthology Long Journey: Contemporary Northwest Poets.

- Friday, December 1, 2006, 7:30 p.m: Literary Arts has announced that The Charles Erskine Scott Wood Distinguished Writer Award, presented to an author in recognition of a distinguished career in Oregon
letters, will be given to Ursula K. Le Guin. The award is presented at the Oregon Book Awards ceremony, at the Portland Art Museum.
